okay so kicking the Ralts journal
that flailing was giving me tumours
man I need to redo my CSS this is getting so boring
anyway so
Last night I couldn't sleep
again ._. dontfallasleepinclassnooooooo
yes
but I started this random train of thought about
one member of our class ditched because computer and stress
and she's going into business
that's not relevant actually
but it was about her going and doing something completely random
all this 3D and animating feels more like a hobby thing to me, something I don't need that half-diploma for :I $10k for a diploma. Another $10k for the graduate diploma. Noooothanks
I keep getting distracted in class - by the commissions. I have sketchbooks dedicated to them. A little tiny A6 one for composition thuimbnails and an A4 for refining those thumbnails.
And other things.
But yeah
I was thinking
about
what I'd do when I got out of school.
I mean, I have no training for any other work. The only job I've had is on-and-off contracting for the Traffic Design Group, which is mostly one-off jobs that involve counting. That's all. Counting. ._.
Never managed to get any other work.
Other than commissions.
And then the other issue comes in that I'm getting money from mum so I can eat, and then I'm on student loan for living and course costs - which I have to pay back. That's $20k I have to pay back to theeemmm aaaaa
Well. That's manageable.
Except for the fact that my course ends February. At that point I won't be a student. My student loan will terminate. My hostel contract will terminate. I will get out of school and immediately have to move home.
I can't go back to Tauranga.
I did want to go to Wellington and do some 3D work, but the keyword there is 'did'. I don't any more. Lame.
Since school will end the same date my hostel contract ends, I don't have time to look for a job. I'd need to have money to move somewhere else immediately.
A group of friends is planning to rent a house, there'll be about five of us to share the costs so it shouldn't be too difficult. It may even drop the cost of rent down $50 which would be awesome.
The whole point of this journal is to say that
I won't rip myself off with point commissions like the ones I still haven't finished
(I haven't forgotten the paid commissions from before either!!)
because the 40 point ones were the equivalent of 50 cents.
In future I'll hike the prices up and start saving so I can immediately move somewhere else and be able to afford it. :U
goddammit I'll still be 18 whyyyy
We're talking about maybe
$15-ish for a bust/headshot (according to complexity) like Old Man Garchomp or something
and upwards of $60 for a background piece? Something.
is this ok ;-; would anyone buy the arts? or
or
will I be homeless
this would be good practise
if I want to go freelance at any point
attempting to bust out a full BG piece in two days
could be fun
TL;DR:
TURN UP YO' VOLUME AND DEAFEN EVERYONE WITH CONGAAAAAAA

Good luck, your art is wonderful <3
; A ;
How could you! I had so little left too.
:C
Anyway,
I'll help you outs for sures!
I shall buy your arts! >:3c
But I hope you find a good job.
so I take it your school doesn't find a placement for you in your final year?
But until that time, we shall look after you!
C:<
OK holy shit $15 for one of your headshots? That is so damn cheap oh my god. On FA, you get something like that for what $40? Seriously if you go there and get your name around, you may find yourself getting a bit more income.
Apart from the idiots that come up to your page specially to complain about BAWW I HAVE NO MONEY. And then go to some gross fetish art and buy the universe ok there are flaws on that site BUT I FEEL YOU'LL DO WELL? O:
As far as work goes- studentjobsearch is utter tripe and shouldn't exist. All the jobs on there want postgraduates, which means they aren't students any more wtf
xD I was offering $8 for a fullbody celshaded piece before, sooo... moving up slowly is good :3 It'll get higher soon enough. And also headshots are relatively quick.. Old Man Garchomp took about an hour total to scrawl up, so I'm pricing it on time taken at the moment. $15 an hour is ok for starting out~
Man people are just all over FA haha~ Looks like I'll wander over and say hi, then. *wanders over* At least if it's slow in both places, together it'll amount to a generally good income of work, which is good- the only issue is that I have to draw thiiings
...how is that an issue
MAYBE
Good to hear c: There are less people there than DA so it's sorta easier to get noticed, but it's far from perfect, haha. x.x
The only thing available for under 16-year-olds is paper rounds but nothanks xD; Nobody else will give paid work or take you seriously. It's kinda lame.
o: I got one watcher already yaaay
soulspoison
they're pretty awesome at the art so I don't even know.
